Scotus Blog Covering Elena Kagan Supreme Court Confirmation Hearings – Scotus Blog has been live blogging Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan’s confirmation hearings. A number of concerns have been raised regarding Elena Kagan, President Barack Obama’s choice for Supreme Court Justice. Republicans have stated that she simply does not have enough experience in the courtroom to effectively carry out the job that she was assigned to do. Kagan made headlines following her nomination. Rumors began to spread that she was homosexual, and eventually the term became one of the top terms on Google. Quickly, several former friends came to her aid and claimed that the rumors were not true, saying only that she was a private individual and wanted to remain that way, despite her nomination.

Kagan has faced a number of tough questions about her political views and her interpretation of the constitution. Politicians from both sides would like to know who they are voting for or against in the process to become a Supreme Court Justice. Kagan has a lot of experience in the educational sector. She was a law professor and dean at Harvard Law School, which is considered to be one of the top law institutions in the nation.
The Senators who ask Kagan questions usually structure their questions in a way that will push their own agenda. As you can imagine, they do not want to elect a Supreme Court Justice who will not rule in favor of their own way of thinking. Kagan will be under intense scrutiny throughout the day as she tries to convince a room full of Senators that she is the woman for the job.
