Rush Limbaugh Obama’s Katrina Comment

Rush Limbaugh Obama’s Katrina Comment – U.S. President Barack Obama is receiving a number of criticisms for the recent oil spill. Rush Limbaugh recently went on to say that the incident would be remembered as “Obama’s Katrina,” in reference to the breaking of the levees when George Bush was still in office. However, after the statement was made, Media Matters for America also released a statement to counteract what Limbaugh had said on his radio program.
“Media conservatives have rushed to absurdly compare the Obama administration’s response to a catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico to the Bush Administration’s botched response after Hurricane Katrina, a hurricane that left more than 1,500 dead,” the liberal group said on their website. “This claim is undermined by a number of facts.”

Obama just recently declared the disaster a national emergency, even though the oil rig first exploded over eight days ago. Since that time, oil has been leaking by the gallon out of the well at the bottom of the rig. It has been estimated that hundreds of thousands of gallons of oil have leaked into the Gulf of Mexico over the course of the last week.
“This is always the case in Washington – that whenever something like this happens, the political speculation sets in.” said White House Senior Adviser David Axelrod to ABC News.
Axelrod went on to say that no additional offshore oil drilling has been authorized. He also went on to say that no more drilling would be authorized until the President felt that he had the proper safeguards in place to ensure an incident like this doesn’t happen again.

Rush I live in Utah most conservative State generally agree with you, but your defense of
Goldman (nut) sacks, under the guise that they are just some poor business interest, being attacked by big Government, is short of reality of the facts. Fact is Goldman (nut ) Sacks ARE THE GOVERNMENT. they have more high placed people in govt than the commies!
This isn’t Obama’s Katrina…its Obama’s Chernobyl
I can’t tell you how many times in almost 5 years that I’ve heard conservatives yell that Katrina was something that should have been handled by the locals. This in spite of the fact that it was larger than 9/11, the Oklahoma City Bombing, the Northridge California earthquake and the San Diego firestorms combined.
Now these same folks, many led by Rush Limbaugh are saying that the oil spill, which is the fault of a private corporation IS suddenly the responsibility of the Federal Government. How hypocritical can they get? And to think in 2008 how many right wing media members lied that Katrina didn’t cause any oil spills and therefore we should be expanding oil drilling in the Gulf.

Are you kidding? This will NOT be Obama’s Katrina, because unlike Bush? President Obama got these folks monetary help ASAP! Outstanding. The people of New Orleans still have no homes to come back to, and that’s shameful! Bush did nothing for days while the Men, Women, and Children did without help for days, and died! When are some of you naysayers going to realize the mess our Nation is enduring was caused by the last Administration. Apparently senile dementia has hit a bunch of folks!
