Obama Focuses on Harry Reid 2010 Re-Election – The White House and several other allied campaign committees were working long hours in order to compile a list of midterm campaigns to be prioritized. However, the actual decision process had little debate over which race would be their top priority, specifically regarding the re-election of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. His re-election has been a long and drawn out fight in Nevada and seeing the Democrat’s approval ratings started to fall there were reasons to worry.
However, one part operative writes, “He’s the goddamn leader.” This statement put the situation very clear that the Senate and the Democratic Party will protect its leaders.

Rush Limbaugh Obama’s Katrina Comment

Rush Limbaugh Obama’s Katrina Comment – U.S. President Barack Obama is receiving a number of criticisms for the recent oil spill. Rush Limbaugh recently went on to say that the incident would be remembered as “Obama’s Katrina,” in reference to the breaking of the levees when George Bush was still in office. However, after the statement was made, Media Matters for America also released a statement to counteract what Limbaugh had said on his radio program.
“Media conservatives have rushed to absurdly compare the Obama administration’s response to a catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico to the Bush Administration’s botched response after Hurricane Katrina, a hurricane that left more than 1,500 dead,” the liberal group said on their website. “This claim is undermined by a number of facts.”

John Paul Stevens Retires
April 10, 2010 by Jerry · Leave a Comment
John Paul Stevens Retires – Justice John Paul Stevens, who was a republican appointed justice, is retiring at the age of 89 after a 34 year tenure in his current position. In his time as a justice, John Paul Stevens solidified himself as the leader of the Supreme Court’s liberal wing. Stevens sent a letter to the President that stated that he believed that it would be in the best interest of not only himself, but the court for him to step down and have his successor appointed and confirmed in advance of the commencement of the court’s next term.
This announcement had been rumored for months, however Stevens was expected to postpone any announcement until after the high court’s oral arguments came to a close near the end of the month. Stevens will remain on the court until his term comes to an end this summer.
Republicans are expected to keep a close eye on the next justice that Obama chooses to appoint.
“As we await the president’s nominee to replace Justice Stevens at the end of his term, Americans can expect Senate Republicans to make a sustained and vigorous case for judicial restraint and the fundamental importance of an even-handed reading of the law,” stated the Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens Retiring
April 6, 2010 by Terry Reth · Leave a Comment
Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens Retiring – After thirty five years of hard earned success as the leader of the liberal wing in the nation’s highest court, Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens is approaching his retirement and is making plans to announce that he will step down from serving. His comments came out in the media on Saturday which were released by the New York Times and the Washington Post. He said he will be making up his mind within about of month. Surely retirement is a big decision so if it were to take Justice Stevens any longer, no harsh feelings would be addressed. Retirement often times isn’t looked at as something positive for those who have enjoyed their career, their life, and the amount of difference they have been able to make in society. Surely being part of the Supreme Court Justice system, John Paul Stevens has made a huge difference in the court cases that the Supreme Court has addressed. Without a doubt without him the system wouldn’t have been the same.

Obama More Oil Drilling In Gulf Proposal
Obama More Oil Drilling In Gulf Proposal – President Barack Obama has been exceptionally busy in recent weeks. First, he was able to pass the land mark health care form bill, much to the chagrin of a few of his opponents from the other party. The aftermath of the bill was ugly, and featured a large amount of name calling. More recently, Obama was able to pass a student financial aid reform bill that allowed college students to borrow money directly from the government, instead of having to borrow their loan money through a third party institution. This will save many students a lot of money in interest every year, and will also save the country nearly 68 billion over the course of the first two years that the program is enacted.

Obama 15 Recess Appointments
March 29, 2010 by Jerry · Leave a Comment
Obama 15 Recess Appointments – It appears as if the atmosphere in Washington will be getting worse before it gets better. President Barack Obama said on Saturday that he would be making 15 recess appointments that are to be upheld by republicans. These positions will include several different seats in the Treasury Department as well as several different positions on the national Labor Relations Board. Each of these positions have been vacant for more than a year, and Obama’s recent appointments do not come as much of a surprise to detractors who had speculated that he would be making these moves before they broke for recess.

Health Care Bill Reform Passed? – America has to hold its breath for few more minutes while waiting to find out if Health care reform passes or not.
The House of Representatives opened early Sunday, March 21, with the first debates on the adoption of the historic health care reform and the votes are said to be tight and crucial for Barack Obama’s young presidency.
Outside the Capitol, hundreds of Tea Party members are busy shouting insults, racial slurs and their now infamous slogan “Kill the Bill”.Meanwhile back inside the House Democrats are scrabbling to get the 216 (rumors claim that they do have the votes) votes needed in order for the bill to succeed.
Just moments ago the White House announced that Obama would be delivering a speech this evening live from the East Room.
Whether you are for or against this bill ,one must confess that ,this announcement is a sign of optimism and that President Obama has enough votes in the Democratic camp to ensure the passage of this life changing reform.
