Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens Retiring – After thirty five years of hard earned success as the leader of the liberal wing in the nation’s highest court, Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens is approaching his retirement and is making plans to announce that he will step down from serving. His comments came out in the media on Saturday which were released by the New York Times and the Washington Post. He said he will be making up his mind within about of month. Surely retirement is a big decision so if it were to take Justice Stevens any longer, no harsh feelings would be addressed. Retirement often times isn’t looked at as something positive for those who have enjoyed their career, their life, and the amount of difference they have been able to make in society. Surely being part of the Supreme Court Justice system, John Paul Stevens has made a huge difference in the court cases that the Supreme Court has addressed. Without a doubt without him the system wouldn’t have been the same.

Obama More Oil Drilling In Gulf Proposal

April 1, 2010 by Jerry

Obama More Oil Drilling In Gulf Proposal – President Barack Obama has been exceptionally busy in recent weeks. First, he was able to pass the land mark health care form bill, much to the chagrin of a few of his opponents from the other party. The aftermath of the bill was ugly, and featured a large amount of name calling. More recently, Obama was able to pass a student financial aid reform bill that allowed college students to borrow money directly from the government, instead of having to borrow their loan money through a third party institution. This will save many students a lot of money in interest every year, and will also save the country nearly 68 billion over the course of the first two years that the program is enacted.

Obama 15 Recess Appointments

March 29, 2010 by Jerry

Obama 15 Recess Appointments – It appears as if the atmosphere in Washington will be getting worse before it gets better. President Barack Obama said on Saturday that he would be making 15 recess appointments that are to be upheld by republicans. These positions will include several different seats in the Treasury Department as well as several different positions on the national Labor Relations Board. Each of these positions have been vacant for more than a year, and Obama’s recent appointments do not come as much of a surprise to detractors who had speculated that he would be making these moves before they broke for recess.
