Climate Bill vs Immigration Reform – The energy and climate legislation was supposed to be unveiled Monday, but was not be because of a disagreement regarding immigration reform. The bill has received a lot of attention from Sen. John Kerry (D-MA), Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) and Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC) in recent weeks. The trio have attempted to attract votes from both sides of the aisle in an effort to avoid a Senate filibuster. The bill has been referred to by many as the “tri-partisan” bill, because Lieberman recently declared himself an independent.

Scott Brown On Palin, Supports Romney In 2012 – The Senator of Massachusetts, Scott Brown, recently stated that he felt that Sarah Palin would make a competent President if given the opportunity, but went on to say that he would not be supporting her in the upcoming primaries. Instead, he explained that he would be supporting another Massachusetts Republican, Governor Mitt Romney.
“I am going to support Governor Romney, and I’m going to see who’s out there in the field and make my decision,” Brown recently told The Today Show.
Brown was never favored to win in Massachusetts, and his victory in the state has been described by many as “unlikely.” During his interview Brown also revealed that he is completely ruling out the possibility of a presidential bid in the upcoming presidential election.

Newt Gingrich:Tea Party Militant Wing Of GOP – Net Gingrich recently stated that he expects the Tea Party movement to eventually turn into “the militant wing of the Republican Party.” The comment was made at a speech Gingrich gave in Pennsylvania on Wednesday night. He went on to say that he believed the Tea Party’s efforts were “natural” and went on to say that every American is allowed to pursue happiness.

Michael Steele:African American Voters Mistreated By Republican Party – Earlier this week the Republican National Convention Chairman Michael Steele told an audience of DePaul students that African Americans have no reason to vote for republican candidates. He also went on to say that the GOP’s “southern strategy” has alienated minorities, specifically African Americans, for many years. Steele outlined the strategy as focusing on only the white voters from the South and neglecting African American voters in the region.
One student from the crowd asked Steele what reason African Americans would have to vote for republicans in the first place.
“You really don’t have a reason to, to be honest — we haven’t done a very good job of really giving you one. True? True.” Steele replied.

Tommy Thompson Tea Party Favorite Not Running Wisconsin US Senate Race – The former governor of Wisconsin, Tommy Thompson, announced at a recent tea party rally that he will not be running for Senate in Wisconsin. Thompson said that his family had wished that he would not run, and that he would honor their wishes according to the associated press. Thompson went on to say that the decision not to run was not an easy one. It is reported that Thompson came close to deciding to run when a tea party crowd began shouting out his name and calling for him to run during a gathering. After several conversations with his son and daughter Thompson reportedly changed his mind and decided that running for Senate would not be in the best interest of him and his family.
