Michelle Bachmann Sarah Palin Rally – The Former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin recently hosted private fundraiser for republican Representative Michele Backmann of Minesotta. Palin has been increasingly busy in recent weeks after signing a deal for her own reality show about here home state of Alaska, as well as making headlines when she signed on as an anchor for FOX news. Her most recent political moves have been interesting as well. Palin recently helped John McCain, her former presidential election running mate, to rally the base of the party in his state and to help him with his narrowing lead in the polls.

She was able to attract a large crowd of thousands of people to an afternoon campaign rally that featured an array of different speakers. Throughout the speeches that were given there were numerous inaccuracies in each of the main talking points. The most heard talking point, that the latest health care reform bill is a “government takeover of health care” was constantly referred to by a number of speakers throughout the evening. That of course, is not exactly how the bill actually works, considering that all Americans will continue to receive their insurance from a number of different private insurance companies, that are either paid by the employer or by the individual.
There were also several references to this fact in Bachmann’s speech. During her address, she said “If you add all of that together, that’s 51 percent of the private economy in 18 months that is now either directly owned or controlled by the federal government.” She was referring to a study by Arizona State University that said that the federal government controls around one-third of the private economy. She would add health care on top of the one-third from the study to reach her assertion that “51% of the private economy is controlled by the federal government.”
