Max Baucus Girlfriend Melodee Hanes Controversy – Max Baucus who is the current Senate Finance Committee Chairman has landed himself in a pickle after it was revealed that he recommended his girlfriend Melodee Hanes for appointment as Montana’s U.S. attorney.Baucus is defending his actions by saying that Hanes who is the former state office director became his girlfriend when they were both separated from their spouses and did not have an affair.Baucus gave an in-depth explanation in the following statement:

Mel and I have a wonderful relationship. We are living together and enjoying spending time with each other and our families. I’m as happy as I’ve ever been.
Mel and I were both separated from our former spouses when we got together. It wasn’t an “affair.” As we grew closer and things progressed, we knew it was time to begin the process of Mel transitioning out of my Senate office. As a highly qualified prosecutor who tried more than 100 jury trials and as a former law professor, Mel would have been an excellent U.S. Attorney for Montana. She is widely regarded as an expert in child abuse prosecution. I for one did not want her relationship with me to disqualify her from applying for the position. I appointed an independent, third-party reviewer and established an open and fair process that resulted in 3 names being sent, unranked, to the White House for consideration. But, in the end, we decided it would be best for Mel to withdraw her name from consideration. That also allowed us to live together in Washington, where Mel applied independently with the Department of Justice, and, not surprisingly to anyone who’s looked at her resume, got the DOJ job on her merit.

Does Melodee Hanes’ relationship with Baucus disqualify her from getting the job?

Is this the kind of person we want framing our national health care policies. He seems to think with his little head rather then his big head which is supposed t contain his brain. I think that voters need to make a clean sweep in the next two elections. I also think that we should introduce some cost savings, such as not having the tax payers responsible for the bodyguards of any ex president or his family once he is no longer in office, If he feels that he needs body guards he should have to pay for them out of his own pocket just like any other celebrity. i also think we need to have term limits on those who serve in congress, the senate ,and on the supreme court. Also all government retirement should be brought more in line whith what the rest of us have to except, These people are supposed to work for the people not the other way around.
