Kathleen Sebelius Public Option Health Care Gaffe – A democrat may be in the White House but the Republicans are having their way.President Barack Obama’s administration has apparently folded and will eliminate the idea of giving Americans the option of a government-run insurance as part of a new health care system.Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius who appeared on CNN on Sunday, said:

A new, government-run health-insurance program wasn’t the “essential element” of any overhaul plan.

Did Sebelius misspoke?

According to Robert Gibbs, yes ,the president’s press secretary, who was a guest on CBS’s “Face the Nation” today tried to clean up the Health and Human Services Secretary’s gaffe by explaining:

President Barack Obama wants “choice and competition” in the insurance market. Mr. Obama “has, thus far, sided with the notion that can best be done through a public option,” or government-run plan, the bottom line is simply that “what we have to have is choice and competition in the insurance market.”

What are your thoughts on these mixed signals?
