Janet Napolitano:No Wider Terrorist Plot – Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano appeared on CNN’S “State of the Union,” earlier today where she explained that U.S. officials do not believe Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab’s attempt to blow up a Northwest Airlines flight that was landing in Detroit on Christmas Day was part of a larger plot.

She added that she is working to discover whether Abdulmutallab, had any ties to al- Qaeda.
“Right now we have no indication that this is part of anything larger.The investigation continues.It would be inappropriate to speculate about whether or not he had such ties.You have to understand that you need information that is specific and credible if you are going to actually bar someone from air travel.He was on a general list, which over half a million people — everybody had access to it. But there was not the kind of credible information, in the sense derogatory information, that would move him up the list.”
Meanwhile republicans are blaming the Obama administration for the lapse in security in the country.
