Health Care Bill Reform Passed? – America has to hold its breath for few more minutes while waiting to find out if Health care reform passes or not.
The House of Representatives opened early Sunday, March 21, with the first debates on the adoption of the historic health care reform and the votes are said to be tight and crucial for Barack Obama’s young presidency.

Outside the Capitol, hundreds of Tea Party members are busy shouting insults, racial slurs and their now infamous slogan “Kill the Bill”.Meanwhile back inside the House Democrats are scrabbling to get the 216 (rumors claim that they do have the votes) votes needed in order for the bill to succeed.
Just moments ago the White House announced that Obama would be delivering a speech this evening live from the East Room.
Whether you are for or against this bill ,one must confess that ,this announcement is a sign of optimism and that President Obama has enough votes in the Democratic camp to ensure the passage of this life changing reform.

I don’t live in USA, but I applaud President Obama’s initiative for reforming your healthcare system. When I hear that a friend in America needs an MRI scan, but without medical insurance it would cost $30,000, your healthcare system surely need reforming.
And when I hear that people in Canada die because they have to get put on a huge waiting list for operations they need done now but can’t get because their are a thousands others before them, I was happy that we didn’t have this crappy “universal” health care.
I keep telling jeff that if he pays me $300,000 then I can do his surgery whenever he wants. I am a private doctor and only work for large amounts of money, so it works out great for both of us!
hahahahhahahahaha i’m with you Jeff!
Priority cases don’t get put on waiting lists in Universal Healthcare systems. It creates job opportunities and boosts the economy. Please don’t automatically assume that something government run is automatically communist or bad. Research the other side of the topic, not just things that support your opinion.
Brian,
I am interested to know which ways she can get the scan if she doesn’t have insurance? Is it the way of being a single parent and qualifying for state insurance or placing herself in the emergency room at the cost of thousands of dollars? Perhaps I missed the other option that the poor class gets here in the United States if we can’t afford to buy private insurance and aren’t offered it through wage-labor jobs?
Jeff, have you ever actually talked to a Canadian? I don’t know anyone in Canada who has had to wait for surgery or any other procedures. I have friends in the US who have lost their home because of medical bills their insurance company refused to pay.
Thank you Jeff. I’m not the only one thinking the same thing here. I’m from Canada. My grampa needed an operation done six months ago. His doc told him he’d probably live for about two months without the surgery but if he had it in time then he would be ok. It doesn’t make any sense -the waiting list was way longer than two months…We had to go to the United States and it was worth the money we had to pay, because he’s not dead. Thanks a lot for that four hour drive, shitty healthcare system. Ha, U.S., if that passes, you’re all fucked when you’re old. Your democrats are idiots.
Right.. so unlike the 30+ million in the States that die from the fact they can’t pay for their health so they wait, or else get dumped and deemed unworthy of care…
Don’t be stereotypical or condesending, because like my first statement, the statistics of health care in any country are never exact or uncomplicated. Don’t repeat propaganda because it sounds like it will fool the easily fooled. Canada is only one of the Western nations that have universal healcare and they all have their pros and cons. Emergencies are not treated the same way as other procedures, people are not left waiting when their situation is potentially fatal. But if a broken bone isn’t fixed within the hour or a knee operation will take 6 months, it doesn’t mean a country is lax in their care. It is expensive, that isn’t a question, so some things must wait. But never, unless in accident or a small selection of abnormalities whether system or doctor, does a death occur because of wait times. It is fine to pay if you wish I guess if you are able to do so, but agreeing in the denial of health care to the ones that cannot afford it in your country is like servicing their death sentances yourself. One day you yourself may lose your job ( as this world holds little security in employment these days ) or your children might, and you and they may be greatful at the chance of continued life even though you may not have the means to pay for it – thanks to this step in progression of the United States of America. Be proud, not sour that your country wants to take care of its own. It doesn’t make you a leftie or *gasp* liberal, to care about your countrymen’s well being.
My brother works at a hospital. If you don’t have insurance and can’t afford treatment, they will provide it free of charge. He has worked at several hospitals and that has always been the case.
My reaction? “OH SHI-”
Rose, Your friend can get that scan……if she needs it, she can get it. There are ways to help her finances. I pray she is ok.
yeah, their friend can get the scan. and go into debt.
One step close to socialism. Fifty years ago Obama would’ve been accused of being a socialist, now he is praised. This country has gone to Shit. Too bad theres nowhere better. This bill passing is a sign of the world coming to an end sooner than later. Obama is evil.
How would he be consider an socialist last I checked The rich has always taken form the poor thats how they become rich…..
I live in america, and I am deeply saddened that this bill has passed. Not only does this mean that a government body whom I do not trust is not in control of my health, but also that we are adding another trillion dollars onto our ever growing debt. Yes, our health care needs reform, but not like this. I am scared to be an american for the first time in my life.
I just heard about it on the news right now!
I spent the day on facebook debating the health care reform. I’m very happy that this bill has passed! Obama has just made his promise of change!
the health care re form is a big joke,,,if we are going to be required to pay others health care then all persons must/should be legal and the non–residents should not be allowed medical care.(at all)(go back to your country and get your care)..and if you become legal in the US then we should welcome them to the party…WHILE THEY ARE DOING THIS:They should go ahead and take away all the grants from the so called minoraty groups and allow all persons to be able to get it or relook at the minoraty groups because im almot positive that white has become the minoraty, and since we are not going to change that then we should be allowed to get the food stamps and not provide our real names and we should get credit the 2000.00 for being non–resident.. also since the non–resident dosent have to carrie car insurance then we should not have to . also since non–residents are not convicted of crimes and are just sent back and are back in a day or two with a clean slate then we should not be charged with crimes, and since people in prison get everything free they should go back to the grow and raise your on food and the chain gang thing and take away the rights of the prisoners (They have more rights than we free people do) (They didnt respect the law so no rights) we as a nation should be (Under God)(indavidual) and put the crosses back in goverment, schools praying and we should not have to learn a new language because if we go to another county or place they are not going to learn ours. WHat happened to Justice for all were did it go. It is un just that we pay for crap thats none of our business and we should stand and we will not be ignored we will be heard and force the Gov. to hear us. Put the people back in G-bay where they belong and exicute them so we dont have to pay for them to live like kings.
Either way you look at it, it will still take 5 years to actually play into effect.
