Carl Paladino Anti-gay Comment: ‘Dysfunctional Homosexual’
Carl Paladino Anti-gay Comment: ‘Nothing To Be Proud Of In Being A Dysfunctional Homosexual’ – Carl Paladino who is running for governor in New York as a Republican, just landed himself in some serious PR troubles. According to the Tea Party movement favorite, homosexuality is not “equally valid” with heterosexuality.
Paladino remarks come at a time when New York police made arrests following anti-gay hate crimes. CNN New York affiliate NY1 claims that Paladino was supposed to deliver the following lines in a speech: “There is nothing to be proud of in being a dysfunctional homosexual.” Paladino added Sunday: “I just think my children and your children would be much better off and much more successful getting married and raising a family.”
Carl Paladino did not stop there, slamming his opponent New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo for joining New York’s gay pride parade few months ago.
“That’s not the example that we should be showing the children and certainly not in our schools,” he stated.
Andrew Cuomo’s campaign did not waste much time jumping on this sensitive issue, spokesman Josh Vlasto said: “Mr. Paladino’s statement displays a stunning homophobia and a glaring disregard for basic equality.” “These comments along with other views he has espoused make it clear that he is way out of the mainstream and is unfit to represent New York,” Vlasto explained in a statement.
Paladino is not backing down from his controversial comments, for his views are those expressed by the catholic church.
Michael Caputo, campaign manager for the businessman, said in a statement to CNN: “Carl Paladino’s position on this is exactly equivalent to the Catholic Church.” “And if Andrew Cuomo has a problem with the Catholic Church’s position on abortion and homosexuality, he needs to take it up with his parish priest.”
Did Carl Paladino lose this election by making these comments? Do you applaud his blunt honesty?
