Betsy McCaughey Jon Stewart Daily Show – Betsy McCaughey on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart where she fabricated few stories about Obama’s health care bill.McCaughey who is said to be the creator of the term “death panels” had a long exchange with Stewart.Stewart said:
And so let me just read it very quickly. “In general, for purposes of reporting data on quality measures for covered professional services, the secretary shall include quality measures on end-of-life care and advanced care planning that have been adopted or endorsed by a consensus-based organization, if appropriate. Such measures shall measure both the creation of and adherence to orders for life-sustaining treatment.”
McCaughey replied by:
And what’s wrong about this — it’s one thing to pay doctors to spend time with their patients discussing this issue. I am not against this. But, putting pressure on doctors to require patients to go through a consultation that’s prescribed by the government and then penalize them –

“I would like to see the United States spend more on healthcare and not less”? How much more do we need to spend, how many more have to lose their insurance for frivolous reasons, how many more have to lose their homes because of medical debt, how many more will die because of rationing no one wants to correct because it is too profitable.
I suppose in McCaughey’s universe, you apparently CAN get blood from a turnip!
The references to Orwell’s 1984 are everywhere today. “War is Peace!”, “Freedom is Slavery!”, “Ignorance is Strength!” It’s the last one, that sounds like something the right has been pushing ever since the election. Trouble is, it’s working in certain quarters. Dependence on the ignorant has been a mainstay of American politics since the beginning. Unfortunately, they have been mobilized. these poor, misinformed folk will never accept that they are being used.
Betsy McCaughey knows this, of course. It’s the way she plays to people. Some think that Jon Stewart went above and beyond his station when he discredited her on his show. I believe he knew he had to call B.S. on this charlatan, so everyone could see just how out of touch this woman is from reality.
