September 8, 2010 by Jerry · 1 Comment

Koran Burning Terry Jones: Pastor To Pursue Quran Burning – The Christian Minister who has called for supporters to burn the Quran on a specified day, and has even gone as far as to release television commercials asking more people to take part in the event, has said that he is willing to give his life for his beliefs. He originally said that he wanted to commemorate the September 11th, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center. However, given the fact that a mosque being built down the street from ground zero is attracting so much attention, it is clear that he knew what he was doing when he made the suggestion.

The pastor is Terry Jones, and he works for the Dove World Outreach Center, which is a small evangelical church. He has come under fire after asking people to burn the Quran on September 11th in hopes that he will be able to commemorate the day. Officials have said that his call to do so will put our troops at risk in the Middle East and could incite violent behavior among normally docile people who reside there. The pastor has not backed down, and has said that he himself would be willing to give his life in order to go through with his plans.

Obama New Stimulus Package:$50 Billion For Infrastructure – President Barack Obama has been talking about rebuilding the economy since he first came into office, and he put that agenda first during Labor Day. The public has seen their confidence in the President fall during his time in office, but he told a crowd in Milwaukee today that he will “fight every day until the economy is turned around.” He used the holiday to unveil a new six year; $50 billion plan to create jobs by improving the nation’s roads, railways and runways.

All of the changes that he announced would have to be addressed at some time, and it appears that he believes that there is no better time than now. With the economy experiencing a mild recovery, it is time to start creating jobs once again. He also said that Democrats heading into the November elections are completely focused on turning the economy around, which in turn will allow us to start address the other issues that are important to the public.

Basque Group ETA Ceasefire

September 5, 2010 by Jerry · Leave a Comment

Basque Group ETA Ceasefire – The Basque Separatist group has come under pressure from their political allies to denounce violence and search for peaceful options to secure the things that they fight for. The group has been severely hurt by the frequent arrests of their leaders, and announced a cease-fire on Sunday, bringing an end to the violence that they have created. They have been fighting for an independent homeland for their people, but have apparently been convinced that there are ways other than violence to go about it.

The group has announced cease-fires before, and some Spaniards are skeptical about the announcement. The new pledge may only be temporary, as the group has been fighting for an independent homeland in northern Spain since the late 1960’s. The group has remained silent regarding whether or not they will agree to surrender their weapons, and did not say whether or not the cease-fire was a permanent change in policy for the group. The group is also known for extorting money from business leaders for the purpose of recruiting new members into the Basque Separatist group.

Joe Miller Alaska Tea Party Senate Candidate Campaign Funded By God – One Tea Party Senate candidate, Alaskan Republican Joe Miller, has claimed that he is not taking corporate or out-of-state money, and instead will allow “god” to fund his campaign. It is an interesting statement that has brought Miller under fire in recent days. He said that he has relied extensively on the Lord to raise funds for his campaign, mostly because he believes that his campaign is in line with what God would like to see in the state.

Of course, the money did not fall from the sky. He did elaborate a bit, stating that he is not seeking out of state money, and that he is relying on good Christians to make donations to his campaign because they agree with everything that he stands for. He also mentioned that he will be relying on a number of fundraisers, and that he hopes to be able to run a clean campaign during the upcoming election season.

Orrin Hatch Supports Ground Zero Mosque – Senator Orrin Hatch, a republican from Utah, is standing up for the religious freedom of all Americans by supporting the building of Park51 down the street from the ground zero site. The issue has been a controversial one, because the structure will serve as a recreational facility for Islamic individuals. The fact that it will be down the street from where Islamic extremists attacked America in 2001 is what has caused the controversy.

Hatch said in a recent speech that he believes that since the group owns the private property, they should be able to do with it what they wish, including building a mosque and Islamic recreational facility. He supports religious freedom, and is one of few Republicans who have spoken in favor of the construction of Park 51. President Barack Obama also endorsed the mosque for the same reasons, but has acknowledged that he understands why the issue has been so bitterly debated.

Pastor Bill Keller 9-11 Christian Center at Ground Zero:9/11 Christians? – With the “Ground Zero Mosque” debate in full swing, it appears that Christians are looking to even the score by placing their own church near Ground zero. Of course, the mosque that is planned is actually an interfaith cultural center that includes basketball courts and other recreational activities, and the church that they are planning to place there will likely be filled with bigoted churchgoers who are more concerned with “getting back” at Islam than practicing their religion at the site.
