April Ryan is an idiot. She came to a very serious press conference/briefing with Gossip and Inuendo sounded like she’s jealous of the Press secretary. Indeed acted like a 5th grader.
Ryan owes the First Lady an apology as well as the Social Secretary, and Mr. Gibbs.
If Ms. Ryan doesn’t understand the seriousness of these briefings prehaps her Radio Station, Urban Radio Networks should remove her from such a serious postion. Her skills are more suited for Tabloid TV.
Miss Ryan is a White House news corespondent, big deal!! She comes off as some high school girl doing her first interview, or attempting to do so!! A few questions reagarding the White House party crashers,ok, lets move on. But now, she begins sounding as off she is reporting for some gosop Magazine, instead of a seasoned professional with over 23 years of journalism experience (according to her website, or did I read that wrong!?). The Bell of the Ball, Over shadowing the First lady, passing on Hear Say at a White House news conference. Come on April, you should go back to reporting for the High School news paper or maybe go back to being editor of the high school year book. Your comments would have been more appropriate for that kind of setting, but not in the White House News conference. “Don’t Play with me!!”. You should want to be taken seriously as a News reporter of color, but you are a very poor representative of that profession. You come off as a very angry black woman, and a very jealous one at that. When you enter a news interview, you need to leave that chip at the door.
Maybe Urban Radio Networks should have you doing reports for hig school sports. You come off as someone who would fit right in!!!! Don’ t Play with me!!!
April Ryan is more than an idiot. She is brain-dead. She belongs on a trashy, ghetto morning talk show, not in the White House.
I totally agree with Julia, but I want to add that she made black woman look bad, she was unprofessional and ghetto.

I am embarassed by Mrs. Ryan and her tabloid style of journalism.
Why was this topic so important to her? Her questions did sound tabloid-like. I thought that she was a serious jounalist.
April Ryan did the public a service. I wanted an answer to whether M. Rogers is carrying out her duties in a professional way. The Press Secretary’s response was dismal and obviously meant to avoid having to answer a question he didn’t like. Wonder if he dismisses his child in a humiliating way.
Robert Gibbs was born during Viet Nam in Alabama. The guy grew up in Alabama. My daughter was born at an Army base during Viet Nam. My daughter is older than this putz.
This is some fat little putz who has no manners who thinks he’s hot stuff because his mama dressed him in a little suit and fed him pudding and gumbo. He’s a sniveling pointy-nosed little twit with no manners and barely an education.
April Ryan is an idiot. I hope she loses her post as a WH Correspondent. She is an embarassment to black professionals.
April Ryan sounds like a crack head from the ghetto. Did this woman even graduate from high school? Someone smack some sense into this black woman.
Sheila, please stop trying to speak for all black people. This issue is not only between a black woman and a white man, but it’s also sexism at play. Would he have addressed a male reporter in the same fashion? Furthermore, comparing her to his six-year-old child is just plain rude and does not present him in a good light. He could have handled the situation differently. But why not just answer the fucking question Gibbs?
I know folks are drunk from all the post-race punch, but you shouldn’t just randomly compare black people to your children. During slavery, Blacks were considered to be children in the eyes of their white slave masters. Gibbs is supposedly and educated man. He could have chosen his words more wisely before he decided to be condescending.
Shon – As a black woman, yes I agree that Gibbs should have kept his cool and responded differently. As a mother, I might have said something similar to April because parents tend to look at a lot through parent eyes – in other words i don’t necessarily think it was racist that he made a comment that referenced children. And yes, I don’t believe that he would have said it to a man — he was wrong.
But as your mama/grandma says – two wrongs don’t make a right. I had not heard the exchange until today and I was surprised because it actually was starting to sound like April is jealous of Desiree. Like it was some high school popularity contest that First Lady Obama and Desiree are engaged in — and that April was going to be the one to bring it to light! I actually appreciate that Gibbs was treating it the way that he did and was not going to answer such ridiculous accusations. Bringing up Desiree’s appearance in style mags and the talk around DC is pure gossip!
I seriously hope that if April goes back into that press room that she gets her act together and stops with the nonsense that she was trying to make news. I can give her some questions to ask if she really needs the help.
