Alan Grayson Congressman Slams GOP Health Care Plan
Alan Grayson Congressman Slams GOP Health Care Plan – Alan Grayson a freshman Democrat who represents Orlando, Florida, stood on the House floor Tuesday night and summarized the GOP health care plan : “don’t get sick” – and if you do, “die quickly.” and has refused to apologize for the comments.Instead of retracting from the comments Grayson went further with his thoughts by saying:
“”I apologize to the dead and their families that we haven’t acted sooner to end this holocaust in America.I’m not taking any of it back. I stand by what I said. The point is that if you do get sick, you’re going to have huge medical bills. Your insurance company’s not going to help you and as a result of that you’re going to end up having the plug pulled on you.I don’t think that the Democrats have to be on the defensive for a bill that reduces health care costs, makes health care premiums affordable, makes people’s health care coverage comprehensive in the sense that they can’t be excluded for breaching lifetime caps or by preexisting conditions and helps all of the Americans who cannot afford health insurance today. I think we should be on the offense not the defense and that’s where I plan to stay.”
GOP Rep. Tom Price of Georgia has already filed a resolution Wednesday censuring Grayson for the comments. Rep. Joe Wilson. Some Democrat see Grayson as a hero as the Republicans did with Rep. Joe Wilson and are donating to his political action committee in great numbers.
Seeing that over 44,500 Americans die every year as a result of the crumbling health care system, is Grayson right to call it a holocaust or has he gone too far?

Where did Grayson get his statistics of 44,000 die in the U.S. because of lack of healthcare. Healthcare is free to all in our emergency departments.
Is this count including, drug addicted, alcoholics, gang-related shootings and their victims, obesity, accident related deaths, murders in the U.S. and I could go on and on. These should not be in the count. What about abortions? They are deaths in the U.S.
This guy is an idiot and I’m trying to be kind.
SMOKERS. Are smokers included in the flawed study of the 44,000 who die in the U.S. because of lack of insurance.
My family member who works in an ER says that many of her patients say they can’t afford insurance, but they won’t give up smoking and drinking!
You want ME/US to pay for their insurance! I DON’T THINK SO!
If they gave up smoking and drinking then they could afford healthcare – I think not -
whats on the lung is on the tongue.
So there truly is a Democrat with a backbone. I’m so thrilled and inspired with Grayson and I hope he does not back down. We need someone like him and I plan to donate to his campaign.
Kudos Suzy Hancock! I’m really tired of finger pointing at who is less than a perfect human being. NO ONE lives a perfect life (healthwise or otherwise). Everyone has their struggles with some sort of addictive behavior. And nothing is permanent. Today you may sit secure, healthy and properous, tomorrow is a question mark. There is a reason we experience the state of “human condition” that exists in our world. You can choose to sit back and be smug or you can choose to explore how you can make a difference. When deciding, if you must come from a selfish attitude, consider that no matter what happens with the current heathcare bill, all of those people who do not have insurance and who are not on your list for a dinner party invite, will need care, probably critical care – and you will end up paying for it because they won’t be turned down at an ER. I’d like to think of this healthcare bill as a turning point. People who have never experienced “life maintenance” and “health care” will – and so will their children and then perhaps a growth in attitude for better well being and personal health integrity will florish – and excessive additions will get better. Yea, that’s my dream for our country. I think everyone is worth it. This isn’t going to break those of us who have the comfort of security and good health and insurance of all kinds to catch us when we fall – this whole controversy is an opportunity all around.
Good job Alan. No apology is needed for telling the truth about the GOP health plan. How many of our elected officials, both sides of the the aisle, are owned and operated by the health care industry? You need no further look than their voting record.
Alan Grayson is just answering the lies his fellow congressman throwout on the congressional floor. Keep up the good work and do not back off.
Thank you for your honesty and courage, Alan Grayson. You remind us that there are indeed sensible, intelligent viewpoints on these issues. A “breath of fresh air” is surely an understatement. There should be more folks like you. Again I say thank you.
You people have got to be kidding!!! Alan Grayson (regardless of his “political” affiliation) should be ashamed of himself. I live in Florida and am totally humiliated that our residents have put someone into office that obviously is not thoughtful or well informed about his accusations. I will do everything in my power to get him voted “out” at the next election.
I mean…really…..forget politics for a minute….how about decency and restraint instead of acting so completely immature. Grayson is a “young” senatore and most likely is trying to get a name for himself….either that or he is listening to the other radical members of Congress who have no class, are blind-sighted about “what’s in it for themselves” and therefore using extremely bad judgment in choice of words and deeds.
I don’t care what his motives are, he spoke the truth. He is not blind-sided either. He realizes how many of these people are lining their pockets with money from the insurance industry and couldn’t care less about whether anyone else lives or dies because of it. You can’t talk “nice” to these greedy people, you have to get their attention and he certainly did that. You should be proud of him!
Congressman Grayson,
I have contributed to the fund raising efforts by ACTBlue. Keep up the good work and there will be more to come from the real Americans who fully support your positions. We need many more with your intergity.
Please pass a health care plan that includes a public option that anyone can apply for.
This man is acting like a little child. Talking things that does not make any sense to me and i assume to many others.
