Al Franken Joe Lieberman Senate Spar – Joe Lieberman/ Al Franken feud is making headline in the political world today.Joe Lieberman recently made sure that the Medicare buy-in compromise was tossed out of the health care bill but he was punished by Al Franken today. When Lieberman got to the end of his speech on the floor he asked for more time saying:

“I wonder if i could ask unanimous consent for just an additional moment.”

Sen. Al Franken replied:

“I’m sorry. The senator has spoken for ten minutes. In my capacity as the senator from Minnesota, I object.”

A stunned Lieberman responded:

“Really? Okay. Don’t take it personally. I will ask unanimous consent that the remainder of my remarks be included in the record as if read.”

Sen. John McCain rose to his friend Lieberman’s defense:

“I must say that i don’t know what’s happening here in this body, but i think it’s wrong. And so I — it’s fine with me that it be 10 minutes, but I’ll tell you, I have never seen a member denied an extra minute or so, as the chair just did.”

You can watch the whole exchange after the jump.
